| Special interest days take place at Budleigh Salterton Football Club, Greenway Lane, with coffee available from 10.15am for a 10.45 start. There are two or three lectures, with a breaks for coffee and lunch, finishing at around 3.15pm. Booking forms are sent out to members with society newsletters. They may bring a guest, but if events are oversubscribed members will be given priority. |
The objective of these Special Interest days remains to educate of course, but EXEDFAS has always responded with enthusiasm, and I am never short of suggestions for subjects to be explored. This means that our range of enquiry has greatly expanded and this current year will see us dealing with new areas of interest. This does not mean that we have necessarily abandoned our friends who have been with us before. We have found that the range of subjects they are able to offer has also greatly expanded. This year we are offering a day of English watercolourists, a visit by an expert in antique furniture restoration, and of course, the annual lecture on our proposed Foreign Tour, this time to Turkey, in October 2012. Our first talk is by Ann Clements, an old friend who has been to us before, and the other two visits from speakers I met at the Annual Directory Meeting in London in March 2010. The first two talks will involve interested members bringing first, watercolours they own, and secondly furniture in need of attention. Most of us have a small table or such like, which we have longed to restore, even if the value is merely sentimental. |
