The tour: Sunday 18 - Sunday 25 September 2011

This is a peaceful country whose people are extremely welcoming with none of the hassles often associated with the Middle East. A varied itinerary will allow us to appreciate the immensely rich history and spectacular archeological sites of this gateway to Asia, Arabia and Africa


These are the highlights:

Petra, the beautiful rose-red city and capital of the Nabatean Arabs
The Hellenistic and Roman city of Jerash Amman,  Jordan's modern capital and the ancient capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Two magnificent crusader fortresses at Kerak and Ajlun
The spectacular Orthodox Church of St George in Madaba, with its famous floor mosaic
Mount Nebo, which affords spectacular views towards Jericho and Jerusalem
A short jeep safari through the enchanting desert scenery of Wadi Rum
Time at leisure to relax and swim in the Dead Sea

The tour will be of 8 days duration and a full programme of visits is included.
