"As membership secretary I am responsible for organising and maintaining the membership list and collecting the annual subscriptions (currently £30 per person) by 1 July each year.

This duty includes receiving the applications for membership and listing them in order so that membership may be offered as vacancies occur.

The current membership number is 275 and a waiting list always seems to exist, usually with a wait of 1-2 years for new applicants. Members transferring from other societies are welcomed, but we do not encourage multiple membership.

Applicants on the waiting list may attend up to four lectures per session whilst awaiting a substantive place.

Visitors/guests and those on the waiting list are welcomed to our lecture meetings at an attendance fee of £5. Potential visitors or their sponsors should contact the me beforehand as there is a restriction on the number attending each lecture."
